2019 Wrap/2020 Outlook

Tuesday, December 10, 2019 12:40 PM

The year that was 2019 has proven to be a fruitful year with regard to new works, with a total of 17 new works written, including the beginnings of a concerto for orchestra, five new art songs, five new big band charts, and various other works, my output productivity was at breakneck pace. Performances occured often after a slow beginning to the year, finishing with 14 performances and two world premieres, with June and December being banner months. June brought the Mostly Modern Festival and the performance of four works, two of which were premieres. In September, I made my Russian debut with a performance of my string trio Carmina solis et lunae, which was also performed at the Mostly Modern Festival. In December came the second performance of my big band piece Bright Morning Star after receiving a special recognition in the Itaca College Jazz Composition Contest. And of course, the big news, my Chinese debut with the Athens Philharmonia taking my A Christmas Celebration on a two-week tour of China. 2020 is shaping up to be as productive with the continuation of the China tour by the Athens Philharmonia, and then premiere performances already scheduled in New York for February and May. Other big news in the works, but I can’t tell you about that just yet!
