Project 142 presents DUO MODERNE (Lauren Alfano, soprano and Noby Ishida, piano), an acclaimed NYC-based ensemble dedicated to performing the music of this century alongside art song from earlier eras. nief-norf Summer Festival of Contemporary Music

On the sixth concert of the nief-norf Summer Festival of Contemporary Music was presented the world premieres of the composition fellows of the 2015 festival, which was held at the University of Tennessee. Included were the works of seven of the nine composers, with the final two being presented on the final marathon concert of the festival on Friday June 19. The world premieres were works by Wells Leng, Scott Anthony Shell, Sarah Wald, Adam Kennaugh, Laura Schwartz, Nga Man Chan and Timothy Lee Miller. Other works on the program included "No Two Breaths" by Steven Mackey and "Bok" by Franco Donatoni.



CD Release - Undiscovered Choral Gems

"Undiscovered Choral Gems" is a compilation CD put together by Daniel Shaw of the Composers Choir and released through Phoenix Classics. The CD includes twelve choral works by Kenneth Amis, Andrew Bonacci, John Carollo, Christopher Hoh, Ted Vives and myself, which were recorded over the last few years and compiled into a one-disc release aimed at boosting air play for the works, as well as to promote the work of Daniel Shaw with the Composers Choir. The ensemble is a fee-based group of professional singers from New York and Connecticut who record the works of living composers.

The senior recital of composer/soprano Emily Custer will feature three of her own works, as well as the world premiere of my art song setting of the Robert Frost poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. The recital will be held in Bryan Recital Hall in Moore Musical Arts Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Admission is free.

Traveling to Cuba with Bob Lord president of PARMA Recordings to record Cuban musicians at the famous Abdala Recording Studios in Havana. With the recent relaxing of travel restrictions between the US and Cuba, it is now possible to go there on trips of cultural exchange. Music is one such example that is open for this new development in relations between the two countries.

Trumpet's Jazz Club announces a performance of Diane Moser's Composers Big Band, which will perform works of featured composers, including the premiere of several works by local composer Timothy Lee Miller, including Poochie's Waltz, Bright Morning Star and Miles To Go. The band will also perform Traffic Circle, which they premiered in July 2014.

On the final recital of Keith McClelland, professor of bassoon and music for 39 years, I will have two premieres - The Callithumpian Duck, an arrangement of a woodwind quintet for three bassoons and two cellos, and Wild Turkey Suite for solo bassoon written for this performance for McClelland on the occasion of his retirement. Recording date with some of North Carolina's top jazz musicians to record eight small ensemble jazz works. The project will be a collection of small jazz works, which will mark my first solo CD project. Completion of the project is expected to be sometime later in 2016.

A new Christmas CD release from PARMA Recordings, which includes music by Case, Deutsch, Hoh, Miller, Rhodes, Shrader, Tanner, Tchaikovsky and Wolking, including my own A Christmas Celebration for wind ensemble. It was recorded in June 2015 by the Moravian Philharmonia Winds and Percussion Ensemble in Ouloumoc, Czech Republic with Petr Vronsky conducting.
